Focusing on getting well, not getting to treatment

When Darleen Morrice found a lump in her throat, she tried to stay positive, but her instinct said it was cancer.

Her diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx just weeks later didn’t come as a surprise to her, but it did present some challenges that Darleen hadn’t predicted. Her treatment regimen included 35 rounds of radiation, 5 days a week, for two months. Her treatment was a 2-hour drive each way from her home — but Darleen doesn’t drive. She thought that getting to and from treatment daily would be impossible.

But thanks to your support of the gift of  Give a Ride, the impossible became possible for Darleen.

“If I had to depend on others to get to my treatment appointments, I wouldn’t have made it and wouldn’t be here today,” she says.

“Thanks to donors, I didn’t have to worry about getting there and today I’m cancer-free because of the rides I got to treatment. I can’t express how grateful I am.”
